Chris Podwin

Principal

​Chris Podwin graduated from Auckland University in 1980.  He has tutored in court papers and practice at Auckland University.

Since his legal career commenced, Chris has worked for several law firms before acquiring the present practice of Ogles Podwin & Associates in April 2010. 

Chris has practiced extensively in all areas of court work and litigation involving numerous appearances in the District Court, family Court, Employment Relations Authority, High Court and Court of Appeal.  He has served on various Law Society committees and is a member of the Ministry of Justice Legal Services consultative group approving legal aid family law providers.

Chris is regarded as a senior family lawyer specialist and is a court appointed Lawyer for Child and Counsel to Assist the Court.  Over the years, he has acted for individuals from all walks of life and nationalities as well as large businesses and corporations.  Chris also regularly acts for a local women’s refuge dealing with domestic violence cases.

There is little that Chris hasn’t done when it comes to court related work and appearances.  He has acquired a wealth of experience and as a result has a high success rate with the court work he takes on. 

Chris has a great sense of humour. 

He not only listens but he also gives really good, direct advice. 

Outside of the law, Chris has served as a school trustee at both primary and secondary school level and has been chair of a school board of trustees.

Katalina Tafuna

Senior Associate

Katalina is a dedicated senior family lawyer with a strong presence in the Family Courts across Auckland and throughout the country. 

Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Auckland, Katalina was admitted to the bar in 2016. She went on to obtain a Master of Laws (LLM) in 2022 and is currently working towards her PhD in law.

At Ogles Podwin & Associates, Katalina brings a well-rounded background, having transitioned from a property firm in Auckland’s CBD. She provides comprehensive legal support in parenting and guardianship disputes, family violence, women and child protection, Oranga Tamariki cases, relationship property, paternity, adoption, PPPR welfare guardianship and property management, dissolution of marriages, and more.  Her practice also extends to wills, enduring powers of attorney, and property conveyancing, ensuring clients’ needs are met across various family and general matters.

As a registered legal aid provider, Katalina is committed to equitable access to justice. She speaks fluent Tongan and serves a diverse range of clients who value her approachable nature, and ability to provide calm, honest and direct advice.

Andrew Jamieson

Senior Solicitor

Andrew is an experienced senior solicitor with a demonstrated history of working in the legal profession. Areas of practice include: conveyancing, subdivisions and mortgage finance; building contracts; wills and estates, Enduring Powers of Attorney; commercial leasing; sale and purchase of small businesses; and Trusts.

Andrew came to the law a little later than most, after having worked in a number of industries from horticulture to hospitality, and in a number of roles from motor vehicle dismantler to sales and marketing.

Andrew graduated from Victoria University in 1995, and was admitted to the bar in 1997. After living in Taiwan for a few years, Andrew returned to Auckland where he has worked with a number of firms before joining Ogles Podwin & Associates in 2018.
As a result of Andrew’s travels in Asia, he is able to converse in Mandarin.

Andrew strives to be practical in the results he achieves, but is nevertheless thorough and accurate in all work he undertakes.
